Liang Yaru – Renowned Chinese Guzheng Performer and Educator
Liang Yaru is a celebrated Chinese guzheng virtuoso and educator. She currently serves as the Deputy Secretary-General of the Datong Musicians Association, President of the Datong Youth Guzheng Association, and an examiner for the China Conservatory of Music’s Arts Examinations. As a leading figure in the new generation of guzheng artists, Liang has garnered widespread acclaim for seamlessly blending tradition with modernity, earning her a prominent place in both domestic and international guzheng circles.
Academic Excellence and Musical Education
Born in 1992 in Datong, Shanxi Province, Liang demonstrated extraordinary musical talent from an early age. She began studying the guzheng at the age of six under the tutelage of renowned educators Yang Xi and Professor Wang Xiaoyue. Liang completed her undergraduate studies in guzheng performance at the Shenyang Conservatory of Music and was later admitted to its master’s program in 2015, studying with the distinguished guzheng performer and educator Professor Yang Nani. To further her academic achievements, she pursued a doctorate at Chugye University for the Arts in South Korea under the guidance of internationally acclaimed guzheng master Professor Wang Wei, deepening her expertise in guzheng performance and pedagogy.
Liang is not only an accomplished scholar but also a passionate advocate for guzheng education. In 2019, she founded the Dayazheng Guzheng and Guqin School, dedicated to promoting traditional Chinese string instruments. Her efforts have nurtured numerous outstanding students who have achieved remarkable results in national and international competitions and gained admission to prestigious music conservatories and universities.
Artistic Performances and Stage Experience
Liang Yaru’s artistry has graced stages across China, where her exceptional technique and emotionally rich performances have earned widespread acclaim. In 2017, she participated in the Shenyang New Year Concert and held her first solo recital. In 2018, she hosted a public lecture titled Exploring the Guzheng at the Shenyang National Music Hall and was featured as one of the cover figures for Shenyang’s Craftsmanship Weekly. She also performed at the Mid-Autumn Poetry Gala at Shenyang’s Cien Temple, showcasing her profound understanding and passion for traditional culture.
Upon returning to her hometown of Datong, Liang continued to deliver high-caliber concerts and public lectures, including the Resonating Strings guzheng concert in 2019 and numerous solo teaching recitals and traditional music workshops from 2020 to 2022. Her 2021 solo recital in Datong was a testament to her deep exploration and innovative interpretation of guzheng artistry.

• Gold Medal at the 4th Beijing International Ethnic Instrumental Competition

Additionally, her students have consistently excelled in national and provincial competitions, earning her widespread recognition for her teaching expertise and outstanding educational achievements.

In January 2023, Liang was invited to join the Global Artists Committee (Music) of the Asia Art Association, further expanding her international vision and building a vital bridge for the exchange and development of traditional Asian music.
